Digital dropout effect for missing-signal blocks
Digital Dropout replaces selected rectangular regions with a chosen corruption color. Its block pattern can refresh while motion runs, creating a missing-signal appearance.
Compare the corruption color against the background before increasing Coverage. The effect replaces selected regions rather than moving their contents.

Starting workflow
- Open Digital Dropout on a clean image and choose Corruption color.
- Set Block size and Block aspect to shape the missing regions.
- Adjust Coverage and Seed to find a pattern that leaves the main subject readable.
- Run motion to inspect the changing pattern, or pause and export the current composition.

Increase coverage to replace more of the picture with the corruption color.
Default: 0.16 · Range: 0 to 1
- Mix
Blend the Digital Dropout result with its input after the main treatment is established.
Default: 100% · Range: 0% to 100%
Practical tips
- Choose a color already present in the design to make the dropout feel integrated.
- Reduce Coverage before reducing the block size if too much of the subject disappears.
- Turn Animate off to keep the effect at its manual values. Enable Animate and run playback to refresh the pattern.
Limitations
- Blocks are a rendered color treatment, not evidence of damaged source files.
- Refresh rate changes the pattern during motion; it does not set the exported animation frame rate.
