Horizontal slice glitch effect with Slice Shift
Slice Shift moves selected horizontal bands sideways. Band height controls the thickness of each interruption, while Coverage leaves more or less of the original structure intact.
Keep Seed fixed while comparing Shift and Coverage so a new random arrangement does not obscure what each control changes.

- Interrupt a portrait silhouette for cover artwork.
- Cut a digital poster into offset strips without preparing separate image layers.
Starting workflow
- Open Slice Shift on a portrait or a poster image with strong vertical edges.
- Choose Band height, then lower Coverage until some of the source stays aligned.
- Adjust Shift to set the displacement and Seed to explore a different band arrangement.
- Use Mix to bring back source detail before exporting.

Set the height of each displaced band before deciding how far it should travel.
Default: 4.5% · Range: 0.5% to 25%
- Mix
Blend the Slice Shift result with its input after the main treatment is established.
Default: 100% · Range: 0% to 100%
Practical tips
- Use thinner bands for fine interference and thicker bands for a cut-up composition.
- Compare different seeds before increasing displacement; placement often matters more than intensity.
- Turn Animate off for a repeatable still. Unlike Line Jitter, the band arrangement does not refresh simply because playback runs.
Limitations
- This effect moves existing image bands; it does not add colored static or separate color channels.
